The GIANT on Waukegan

cpglogoThe Glenview Plan Commission charged with making a decision on the permit request for a craft brewery and tasting shop at Card & Party Giant’s former Glenview location is scheduled to continue public discussions on July 14th.  A Glenview resident and owner of Ten-Ninety Brewing requested a conditional use permit for a microbrewery and tap room. That request is now under Plan Commission review. At this week’s hearing, Ten-Ninety’s owner is to address some concerns raised at last month’s Plan Commission hearing. The microbrewery, described by some as what’s needed to help revitalize downtown Glenview, has some obstacles to overcome in convincing the Plan Commission to issue a permit. During the June hearing, Ten-Ninety’s owner invited interested parties to visit his existing brewery to confirm for themselves that he does not intend to “bring a blight or odorous smell” into the Glenview community.  Currently Ten-Ninety produces over 1,000 barrels of beer, with many of its beers carried by local Glenview markets and restaurants. Obviously, Card & Party Giant would like to see a new business and signage at its former location.  As mentioned in our previous blog, since vacating the premises at 1015, Card & Party Giant has been operating its party supply and costume store at 1318 Waukegan Road.  Seasonal patrons continue to return to the old location, often having to call to find out where Card & Party is located. Stay tuned Glenview, and please visit us at 1318 Waukegan Road. We carry a great selection of party decorations, balloons, glow products, and party accessories. We have special summer, elegant, and specialty designs, and a large assortment of themed partyware.  We’re open seven days a week with hours designed to serve our customers’ busy schedules.
