Fall Party Supplies 0
The last official day of summer is just around the corner. And with a new season comes new party supplies and different reasons to celebrate. From back-to-school, to the all-time favorite, Halloween, there's specialty classroom decor, Halloween party supplies, costumes and costume accessories and then, of course, Thanksgiving party supplies. For our Jewish friends there are specialty items for Rosh Hashanah and other fall holidays that bring families together.
In both the local party store in Glenview and the online store, there is already more activity as people gear up for these fall events. Costume inventories are updated, store shelves are filled with fewer and fewer summer party supplies (though it is still 90 degrees out there today!), and more and more fall party supplies. The theme of the store moves away from the bright colors of summer and more toward the beauty of fall colors reminiscent of falling leaves.

L’shanah tovah 0

As you greet your Jewish friends this week, you can wish them ‘
L’
shanah tovah,’ or happy new year as they join other Jewish Americans in the celebration of Rosh Hashanah, or the Jewish New Year. Rosh Hashanah marks the beginning of the High Holy Days on the Jewish calendar. The High Holy Days culminate ten days from now with Yom Kippur, or the Day of Atonement.
Literally speaking, Rosh Hashanah means “head of the year” and marks the new year of people, animals, and legal contracts. Some believe it also marks the completion of the creation of the world. In addition to time set aside for prayer and reflection, Rosh Hashanah, like many special occasions, is celebrated with a family dinner adding the delectable feasts of apples and honey or sweet treats like honey cakes. The holiday challah is round and often includes raisins, extra egg, and sugar to make it sweeter - all reminders of the wish for a sweet new year. Families set out their fancy
tableware and gather with friends and family for an evening of celebration.
Make it Better recently featured some special sweet and savory recipes for the holiday, and
Card & Party Giant always has a nice selection of elegant design plates, napkins, serviceware, and
party supplies to complement your home dinner party or other entertainment.
Happy New Year to all our Jewish patrons and community members. May your year be good. May your year be sweet.
