Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer has a local connection

Many of you may know that Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer is a beloved children's classic Christmas story.  Almost all of us can sing along when the song fills the air in our local department store or a family Christmas party.  But how many of you knew that Rudolph's creator is the father of a local realtor, Martha May. Martha is a realtor for Berkshire Hathaway, working out of the Glenview office.  Her father, Robert Lewis May, was the creator of Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, whose bright glowing nose helps guide Santa's sleigh.

Robert wrote the story in the 1930's, a story that was published by the Montgomery Ward department store in 1939.

You can support your local community in many ways this holiday season. The Glenview Chamber of Commerce has an online list of its many local business members, including our party store on Waukegan Road just south of Lake Avenue.
